Life will be much better after 100 years

It is obvious that life will be better after 100 years. As we advance in technology, we also have new solution to age-old problem such as pollution, transport, medicine and treatment, food production, war, poverty and energy production.

The first worry is pollution of land, sea and air. The future may seem bleak as the greed and ignorance of industrialists join forces with evil developers, heartless loggers and hungry farmers. Nevertheless, as we speak scientist and NGOs are battling the frontiers of science and technology pushing innovation for better manufacturing processes and enacting new laws along the way by appealing to the ambitions of a new generation of techocrats, who seem better educated and informed.

Hybrid electric, fuel cell and solar vehicles are leading the way in the transportation innovation and alternatives. Traffic congestion and accident rates are forcing goverments to improve mass transit system. Train and sea taxis are even being introduced on island as land grow scarce. Singapore is a fine example of things to come. They are a modal of good governance of environmental practice trying to balance development with sustainable ecosystems. Advancements in science might even lead to reforestation happening faster than deforestation.

The diseases that plague the young and old alike might be reduced, if not eradicated, with new medical procedures like non-invasive surgery, new drugs and the infinite possibilities of cloning technology. Heart and organs transplant may be commonplace, making life so much better. Cancer and deadly pandemics might become a thing of the past as science explorer the universe and beyond. We dont know what lies beyond our solar system and what sophisticated space travel would bring. The possibilities are mind-boggling.

In time, man will realise the need to unique and eradicate hunger, famine and unequal food distribution. Fabulous new technology in food production are being discovered every day and more and more people are becoming aware of the need to prosper together. People will cross religious and racial barriers to find unifying ideas as is being done by the Pure Life Society in Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur. Wars will soon to be on poverty and illiteracy.

As mentioned by doomsday predictor Nostradamus, war will be averted and peace will reign if man redeems himself. There is hope yet in the good of mankind as we see more efforts towards nuclear disarnament, the green movement and proactive honest world leader.

The worst holiday i have ever had

I was looking forward to a wonderful holiday in the countryside with my aunt, cousins, grandparents. They lived in an old colonial bungalow that used to be the estate manager's bungalow during great granddad's days.

Dad sent me to the station to catch the train to Batu Gajah. The train ride was slow and boring and I was glad to get off the station.

My cousin, Dinesh, was there to pick me up in my uncle's Mazda Biante. As we turned up the driveway, memories of chilhood play and many weddings came rushing down memory lane. As we reached the porch, it was almost like all those Tamil movie where the city slicker arrives to the doting eyes of the country relatives. Grandma was first in the long list of forehead kissers who gushed at my appearance. Lunch followed by a bunch of gossip and catching up ran into tea and vadais and curry puffs. That evening was spent touring the small town and dinner was a lavish affair. Aunt dished out the best crab curry in the world. We sat in the large verandah that night, with grandma trying my hair in braids playfully and listening to some old Tamil song. (nenanenaneananenaneanenaen)

We slept late that night as secrets and ghost story told. As i drifted off to sleep later, my dreams were all about the crab curry and some food i ate just now. The next morning, i decided to go for a job before breakfast and left early without telling the sleepy brood. I worked up a sweat not realising that there was a motorcycle coming fast around the bend with no lights. The rider was off to the rubber plantations and dint think of running to a city girl in tights and linkin park t-shirt. I went flying into the bushes as i heard a crack. I woke up in a hospital witha fractured leg and bruises. The doctor said that i would have to transferred back to the Ipoh General Hospital as they dont have the parts. Parts? It seems that i would have a metal plate and four screws.I spend the next two weeks trussed up in orthopaedics. The pain and the immobility made this the worst holiday ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarimah

Sarimah was a normal 'kampung' girl who had a normal upbringing. She worked hard at school and also in her father's paddy field. She was a top student in her class.

Unfortunately, her father suffered a heart attack and was confined to their home, unable to tend the field. Her six siblings, three boys and three girls were too young to understand. Sarimah knew by the look on her mother face that she would have to take over. At the young age of 11 she decided that she would not let her family suffer poverty. She forget ahead with the harvest made sure the livestock was well fed.

She got help from the local Mardi and Felda officers who gave her the financial and practical backing. Despite her busy and complicated life, she still managed to continue with her schoolworks. Her mother sold cake and tended to the fruit orchard that supplemented their income in the dry season. As she worked, Sarimah dint neglect her siblings. She paid a kind teacher in her village some money to tutor them. She started selling handicrafts obtained from the local villagers at the weekends night market in KL.There were times when she would cry herself to sleep.

Soon she could manage the farm, orchard and her studies as she had engage some Siamese odd jobbers to tend to her field. This gave herself to study and look after the family. Her business evolved and she managed to study agribusiness in UPM. Neverthelss she returned to the village and saw her siblings through college. Today, all of them have successful career of their own. Her father and mother now live at a simple but comfortable life.

Sarimah today is happily married and have 3 childrens of her own. As she looks back on her past she cant help but wonder how she get the strength and resolve to do all thea she did. She said to me once,'I am amazed at what people can achieve when they are forced to.' Sarimah actually is my causin, i went to visit her last week. I'm curious enough with her family story because my father told me before the her life is very hard when she was young. She shared with me.

Teaching Responsibility To Children

Children learn by example. If parents understand their important role from the very beginning, they can play a major role in moulding their children in the right manner to a large extent.

It has been said that the values and ideas we want to teach the children should be done in the early years. If this teaching learning period is handled responsibility by parents or teacher or guardians, a lot can be achieved. Good habits can be imparted in the early years. Simple courtesies should be taught right from the beginning. Parents must talk politely to their children and expect the same from them. All rude responses must be firmly rejected.

Children must be taught to be a part of the family by giving them simple duties as early as possible. Duties can be as simple as putting toys away when the children are done playing with them. They can be taught to put away their cloth or shoes in the respective places on a daily basis. Children are quick to learn and goods habits formed during this time will stay for a lifetime.

Nowadays, affluent families hire maids and children are not expected to do things for themselves in some homes. This can be detrimental if children are allowed to be rude to maids. They may also think that they need not do anything as the maid are there to see to their every whim and fancy. Parents should think carefully and make sure that they are doing the right thing towards nurturing good values in their children. It will be to bad if the parents found that the children have become spoilt and irresponsible just because the parents have failed to teach them the right values.

Children should be taught to sit down and play quietly or read a book if they can. In creating this habit, parents play a vital roles as they too have to sit down and occupied themselves. In this fact world, everyone expects to be entertained. They wants things to be exciting and fast moving. If parents themselves do not read or spend time quietly, it is hard to expect the children to do so.

Of course, we must also realize that some children will be different like they are under-priviladge. They will not what their parents want them to do. They want to live individualistic. Parents may allowed some ways so that creativity and inventiveness can be nurtured. While some amount of discipline is good, it must not be allowed to destroy their imaginative nature.

Fruits. (yummy)

Fruits are an important part our diet. They contain minerals, vitamins and fibre. There are a variety of fruits in many shapes and colours. There are local fruits and imported onces. The imported varieties are apples, oranges, pears, grapes. Some of these fruits have been cultivated locally but without much success. Only strawberries seem to have been commercially successfully in Cameron Highland. Most of these fruits are imported from China,Australia,Japan. They are found in almost every supermarket and convenience store. They also come in various forms such as juices, ice cream and jams.Local fruits are equally delicious and nutritious. The banana, durian, mangosteens are just as popular. The only differences is that some of them are seosonal. However, this can be solved by our neighbour. ,Thailand. They have managed to genetically engineer strains of durian and now we are able to find in stores all year around. Some ingenious fruit technologist has even made a health supplement from mangosteen skin and another has made papaya soap. Avocado creams and coconut shampoo are quite common. So fruits not only have nutritional value, but it also has medicinal use.Fruits also make excellent gifts. Many people send fruit baskets instead of flowers. Fruit farming has become a great career and a lucrative one too. Much of our fruit is exported overseas at lucrative prices. Fruit sellers are doing roaring business in urban areas. Desserts, biscuits, sweets in fruity flavours are big business. Yoghurts with added fruit are very popular.   Thus, fruits are not only a good source of nutrition, growing them can also make you rich. So we must encourage our local orchard industry and reduce our dependence on fruit imports by encouraging more young people to take up this form of argriculture as the market grows and demand remain strong. There is a lot of land lying idle that can be cultivated. Another advantage is our tropical weather and excellent research facilities backed by the government. So lets grow more fruits. Eat more.

Flims

Have you ever wonder what is Film? How do they looks like? How to make a film and who invented films? What Films bring to human? Film bring the world of fiction and fantasy to us and for a little while we forget the trouble of the real world. Ever since film began to change with sound, colour and technology, we have to move into a fantastic, amazing field of make-believe.

The first film dint have sound and therefore had no speech. Even then the silent films provided much entertainment and delight to the audience. However, with the advent of technology, there has been fantastic progress in the film world. The special effects and the possibilities that have opened up have created the world of fantasy and wonderful.Whether is about the distance past or the almost impossible invention of the future, The film world can deal with it. Many things that people can only dream about can be brought to life in films.

Films like Jurassic Park, Titanic or Avatar are examples of technological achivements. We saw amazing things and praise must be heaped on the technicians and engineers who made these films possible. No doubts the genius of the directors and producers must be appreciated for they saw the possibilities and made them real for the audience. The actors and actress were amazing but we must really appreciate the technical expertise that actually worked it out on the screen for us.
The television has captured its own market of the films worls for it has brought films into our houses. Er have entertainment right in our own home. In this tension-filled world, we need entertainment and relaxion. We need to forget our worries for a little while and get away from our troublesssssss. The television which it films help us to do just that.

Of course many people will claim that films have many negative effects which is true. There are fuilms with too much violence and death and sex. They have an unhealthy influence on weak and vulnerable minds. They do not allow much thinking in their direct portrayal of action and more action. They are a waste of time and money.

It is up the thinking audience to take the good and ifnore the bad. They must appreciate all the wonderful imaginative minds which create the world of fantasy and entertain us with its art, science and technology. It is like stepping into a world of magic and being swept away for a couple of hours. It is an escape that inspires our mind and teases our imagination.

At What Age Should SchoolChildren Be Allowed To Used The Internet?

The Internet is 20th century's most incredible invention. There is greater access to information and knowledge, all for free and from the comfort of home. However, with the Internet's great advantages comes the potential for abuse as well.

Children are exposed to many good and bad websites. The danger is always there that children may surf websites that deals with pornography or illegal activities such as piracy and hacking. Many children may not be monitored by their parents at all. In fact, parents might not be aware that their children are surfing such websites.

There have been stories about children being kidnapped for ransom or sale. There have been also numerous stories about children being sexually abused or exploited through people met via chat websites. Naif children are easily misled into harmful situation.

Then question then arises as to when children should be allowed to use the Internet.

When are they mature enough to read or watch the various streams of information that come through the internet? Should they have parental supervision?

I strongly believe that parents must be fully aware of what is going on in the lives of their children. They need guidance and advise. Parents cannot give up their role because they claim to be too busy or tired. They must take the time and trouble to be there for their children.

Children mature at different age. Only parents can know when their children are ready to deal with the various elements of the internet. If they can advice the children and guide them through the early year the children will be prepared to make their own decision as they grow older. Children need supervision and guidance through childhood and adolescence, especially in the modern world.

Children may resent parents' control strongly if parents interfere a lot when they are older. It is true that parents have to let go more of their control as the children grow older and hopefully wiser. It is unhealthy to keep them under their wings all the time. That will not work at all. However, during their growing years, it is good for parents to have a say in their children's activities.

Teenage Love

Do you believe in love in high school? Could it possibly exist?

No way, kids don't know what true love is... But, how many people do you know that dated in high school that are currently married and happy? I personally know about 4 couples very very well that are now happy after being high school sweethearts. Did they just like each other as teens and grow to love each other? When did the "like" change to "love?" In college? Age 21? 22?23? Or could they possibly have loved each other all along?

Nowadays, many teenagers in high school already have boyfriends or girlfriends. It is not really an uncommon thing anymore in teenagers point of view lately. Teenagers in junior high school who already have boyfriends or girlfriends are just following their natural interest which usually goes to dating. People see this nowadays as there are many young teenagers who still in junior high school to what they called ‘hang out’ or dating in many places. Some people don’t mind about any young teenagers dating because it has some bright side, however there are some people who disagree with it because it also have negative effects. Parents should not let their teen-aged children in junior high schools to have boyfriends or girlfriends because of teenagers’ inability to maintain a relationship, no self control, unreadiness of any consequences.

First, teenagers in  high school are unable to maintain a relationship. At the young stage of teen age which we know as the teenagers in junior high school, teenagers mostly are having the changing stage from children to teenagers. This changing period affect them both physical and non-physical attribute. The changing of physical attributes have no effect at all in the relationship of teenagers relationship toward opposite sex or gender. While the changing of non-physical attribute affect them really much. According to recent study, there are many non-physical changes that occur during adolescence, most notably the large increase in the number of connections between neurons in the brain. This is what causes the change of behavior in adolescents. The notable changes are the teenagers’ instability of feeling, thought and will. They have a couple not because of true love, but only because following their thoughts to discover new experience. It’s often happen because teenagers don’t understand the necessity of having girlfriend or boyfriend. They dont even know what is love.

When you are over i8,you love a girl and thats call love, when you are below 18, you love a girl, thats call puppy love. Some of my friends, they dont even know why they want to have a girlfriend or boyfriend. They just think that i am 16 year old now, mature enough, can do whatever things they like. For boys, they will think that this girl very pretty, sexy and their mind will straight away pop up something related with SEX. So they squeeze their mind to get attraction from the girl. For girl, when they saw handsome boy, they will not bling their eye,and just stare at the boy.Just fall in love with the boy.

I realy dont agree teenagers to have girlfriend. Why? Because when you have girlfriend, you will not focus on your study, and your monthly expenses will go bigger and bigger. All these love will not last long. When they see another girl or boy which  even handsome than their currently girlfriend or boyfriend, they will change it immediately. If they really want to have a couple, please after your secondary schoool.

Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking

It starts with a few pedals. Around and around the wheels go and soon you’re off on your bicycle. Sound easy? Trekking across a suburban landscape and being chased by dogs a bit boring? Try mountain biking. I love it. I swear, . Once you get out of the city there are a zillion places to run, walk, hike or bike. I go mountain biking every Sunday at the crack of dawn . I’ve been called crazy, but the thrill and absolute terror that mountain biking has instilled in me is something I will never forget.

For the first five minutes my legs burn, I feel like I’m crawling in mud and being boiled alive all at the same time. Then I reach the summit of the tiny hill and chastise myself for being such a weakling. I finally figure out that I was riding in hight gear instead of shifting down to first. I allow myself a moment to catch my breath and speed down the hill, narrowly missing fellow bikers and hikers. The early-morning walkers smile in amusement at my wobbly “G-g-o-o-o-d M-mmorning” as I greet them going top speed over the rocky terrain.

Just when I’m feeling pretty confident, another, much larger, hill looms. This time, I remember to shift to first gear and keep pedaling. Large jagged stones stick up in the trail, making it more of an obstacle course. So, I Keep pedaling! Keep pedaling! Urging myself to keep going, I wonder what the heck I am doing this. I should be in bed, catching up on lost sleep. But mountain biking is my break, the intensity purges my system of toxins and the stress that builds up during the week.

My foot slips and I crash to the ground just a few feet from the top. I wearily drag my bike up and ponder whether I should cheat and walk or keep going. I decided I really needed to do penance for the way I had treated people lately.

A deep ditch just begs that I lunge off the edge and fly into space. And I do. For a split second, I feel myself flying as I reach the other end at top speed. Three feet later, I hit hard rock and wince as the seat stabs me.

There’s one hill I absolutely hate to climb. There aren’t only loads of pebbly rocks on nicely paved trails for those with trouble hiking, but also slanting sheets of rock that must be scaled. Sweat drips into my eyes, blurring my vision. My legs feel fuzzy and it becomes difficult to pedal with the lactic acid building in my thighs. I can literally feel the burning creep up my legs, like fire eating at paper. Then I really start to wonder why I woke up in the first place. Finally I reach the top and see the valley below. Then the real fun begins.

It feels like an almost vertical drop, going back down the mountain. I give up counting how many people and dogs I barely miss at my breakneck speed. I hit a large rock and for a second my heart feels like it’s going to stop. At this speed, falling is painful and I don’t want to ruin my upcoming soccer and track season. My bike fishtails wildly and I narrowly miss a nice older lady hiking up with her buddy. She wasn’t too nice afterward.

Another ditch appears under my tires and again I find myself airborne. Half of me screams, I’m going to die. I’m going to die, I just know it! The other half, the verbal part, is whooping at the top of my lungs, “Yeeeehaaaaaw!” I eventually land and miss another couple and their dogs.

Reality finally hits when I return to the parking lot . No longer on an adrenaline rush, the remaining energy seeps from my body as I trying to cycle back to my house.

It feels like I had been kicked in the rear. My butt is so battered from the jolting ride that it is nearly impossible to sit. Pretty soon I feel desperate enough to ask for a butt massage from someone, even though that isn’t likely. But the thrill and excitement of being nearly disemboweled on a mountain-biking trip always outweighs the pain of biker’s butt.
